Mechanical Seal

Mechanical seal refers to a device which is composed of at least a pair perpendicular to the end face of the rotating axis to keep fit and relative sliding under the action of fluid pressure and the elastic force (or magnetic force) of the compensating mechanism and the coordination of the auxiliary seal to prevent fluid leakage.

The elastic loading mechanism and the auxiliary seal are mechanical seals of metal bellows we call metal bellows seals. In light seals, there is the use of rubber bellows as auxiliary seals, rubber bellows have limited elasticity, and generally need to be supplemented by springs to meet the loading elasticity. "Mechanical seal" is often referred to as "machanical seal".

Mechanical seal is a shaft seal device of rotating machinery. Such as centrifugal pumps, centrifuges, reactors and compressors and other equipment. Because the drive shaft runs through the equipment inside and outside, so that there is a circumferential gap between the shaft and the equipment, the medium in the equipment leaks outwards through the gap, if the pressure in the equipment is lower than atmospheric pressure, the air leaks into the equipment, so there must be a shaft seal device to prevent leakage. There are many types of shaft seals, because the mechanical seal has the advantages of less leakage and long life, so the mechanical seal is the most important shaft seal in these equipment in the world. The mechanical seal is also called the end seal, which is defined in the relevant national standards as follows: "A device to prevent fluid leakage composed of at least a pair of end faces perpendicular to the axis of rotation in the fluid pressure and the role of the compensation mechanism elasticity (or magnetic force) and the auxiliary seal to maintain the relative sliding of the stick."
